AI Engineer

What you’ll work on

• Build AI capabilities around consumer and business intelligence, choosing the right approach for the problem rather than starting with a model.
• Develop retrieval-augmented generation and tool-using workflows that connect models with relevant data, APIs, and business systems.
• Create evaluation datasets and automated tests to measure answer quality, retrieval accuracy, task completion, latency, and cost.
• Deploy, monitor, and improve models and AI services in production, working with data and product engineers on reliable end-to-end systems.

Who we’re looking for

• A record of shipping AI or machine learning features that solve real problems, with clear evidence of their impact.
• Strong Python and SQL, production API development, and hands-on experience with PyTorch or an equivalent machine learning framework.
• Practical experience with LLM APIs, embeddings, vector or hybrid search, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). You understand how retrieval and data quality affect the result.
• Experience building reliable tool calls and structured outputs, with validation, access controls, and sensible handling of failures.
• Strong evaluation skills: representative test data, useful baselines, error analysis, and an understanding of data leakage and model limitations.
• Experience deploying on AWS or a comparable cloud using containers, automated tests, CI/CD, and production monitoring. You can balance quality, latency, and inference cost.

Useful experience

• Model training or fine-tuning, including parameter-efficient methods, and serving models with SageMaker AI or comparable infrastructure.
• Predictive modeling, ranking, recommendations, or entity resolution using structured consumer and business data.
• Large-scale feature pipelines, GPU performance tuning, or maintaining AI evaluations and experiment tracking as products evolve.

Working remotely

Datasys operates in a hybrid work environment, but this position is fully remote. You should be comfortable managing your time, collaborating across locations, and taking ownership of your work with the freedom and flexibility that remote working provides.
